Dear Bolinas-Stinson School Families and Community,
I hope you are faring well as we navigate these unusual and difficult times of social distancing. Please remember to reach out to family members and friends through phone calls, texts, facetime, video chats and emails more than you usually would. This not only helps you to connect to others, but helps people to feel less isolated.
Be sure and talk with your kids about the recent changes around them to help reduce their stress levels. One good resource I found, is the recent PBS-10 tips for talking with your kids about COVID-19. We often worry about the effects on our youngest students, but social distancing is hitting our middle and high school students the hardest. They don’t realize the impact a simple gathering of friends could have, and don’t feel vulnerable to the spreading virus. It is critical for all of us to work together to slow the spread of the virus, and keep our kids out of face-to-face gatherings as much as possible.
UPDATES AND SCHOOL NEWS
Limited Office Hours
Due to the shelter-in-place order, the Bolinas-Stinson Office will be open from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM Tuesday, March 17th -Thursday March 19th for limited access. We request that you do not visit unless absolutely necessary.
School Lunches Available for Students
Please let us know if your child(ren) 18 and under needs a school lunch during the school closure. We are working with staff to provide a free lunch of a sandwich, fruit, and milk for all of our students who need this service. Please call or TEXT 415-450-7324 with your name and the number of lunches you will need for your children. We will return your call to confirm with you.
Teacher Webpages Now Live on the BSUSD Website
Most teachers have been in communication with families and have updated their classroom webpages. These newly activated webpages can be found in the Menu on our BSUSD Website or you may use this direct link to access: Teacher Webpages. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to teachers or myself if you have any questions or special needs for your family.
Classrooms Loaning out Devices for Student Use
Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you need to borrow the device they normally use in their classroom. Teachers are communicating the names of students who need to borrow a device to me. I will be gathering their devices from classrooms and will have them available for pick up in the office. Parents will need to fill out the device loan sign-out sheet in the office.
