Dear Bolinas-Stinson School Families and Community,
Thank you for your quick response alerting us of a fire at Slide Ranch today. As soon as we received word of the fire, our staff on both campuses began to prepare for the possible evacuation of the Stinson students.
Stinson Campus staff worked together seamlessly to prepare our youngest students for a quick departure. Students were calm and immediately loaded the bus once we received notification from the Sheriff. Our Pre-K-1st grade students arrived on the Bolinas Campus, had lunch and stayed occupied with fun activities until the end of the day.
I commend our staff on their efforts today. Everyone put in 110% to make sure our students felt safe, secure, and well cared for. We are fortunate to have such an amazing staff that works well together, even under pressure.
We learned a lot from the experience today. I encourage you to work on developing a family emergency plan and gather the necessary supplies to be better prepared in the event of an actual emergency.
Please use the links below to see some simple steps you can take today that will greatly increase your family’s emergency preparedness. The Ready Marin link here provides an outstanding overview of how to build an evacuation backpack, make a family plan, build a kit to be on your own for 5-7 days, and how to participate in Get Ready training.
Please don’t hesitate to email me any ideas or suggestions to help improve our school’s emergency preparedness.
Warmly,
Michelle Stephens
