Final Project /The Animal Family

Final Project for The Animal Family: Due Friday October 30th

Imagine that you are the character you have chosen from The Animal Family.
Write a 'chapter' from that character's point of view (first person narrative).
Show, using descriptive details, what that character thinks, feels, says, etc.
that reveal who he/she is - their personality, and their responses to real situations
from the book, or realistic situations you invent (make up).

Refer to the notes you have on your character, revisit a chapter or passage that
inspires you to launch your narrative. The hand-outs you've received,
Narrative Strategies, Narrative Checklist, and the Word Choice lists, are all tools
to help you in the writing process.

A minimum of 300 words is required. Illustrations are welcome.

Genevieve - Mermaid
Kroeksak - Bear
Caleb - Hunter
Ella - Lynx
Poy - Lynx
Kayla - Boy
Alana - Bear

HOMEWORK

T.R.I. The Animal Family Vocabulary Due Monday Oct. 19th, 2009
Please construct sentences using similes and metaphors with the vocabulary words from the first page of the packet.
*awkward
*humiliation
*persuade
*astonishment
*myrtle
You may change a word endings (make a noun a verb or ...a verb into a noun for example) if it helps you construct your simile and metaphor sentences.

For the remaining words in your vocabulary packet compose an interesting and descriptive sentence using adjectives and adverbs. Your sentences should "make sense" and show that you understand the meaning of the word.

Here are a few examples of beautiful sentences:

"She loved flowers and said that the birds, when they sang that first spring, sounded like flowers."

"When she came from the sea to the house she would leave a trail of crushed grass and flowers through the meadow, and she would smell of them for awhile; but she herself had a sharp salt smell, like the spray of a wave as it breaks across your face."

Extra Credit for using metaphors and similes.
