Week of May 5th

STAR Testing continues

No spelling this week

LITERATURE:  TRI reading groups will not meet during

the two-week STAR Testing window.  Research on Greek gods and goddesses is ongoing and independent work.  Bring your research to class.  Consult with your classmates. 

READING LOG: do 3 entries only beginning Tuesday evening.  Follow the guideline below.

 Each log entry must be a personal response.  Include the book’stitle and the pages read, i.e., pages 210 - 220.  First write down what happens in the book in the part you have read.  Then write your response to what happened.  When you respond, write what you think, or how that part made you feel.  You may choose to connect what happens in the book to something in your life or some other book  you have read.  Support by telling why you either think or feel the way you do.  DEVELOP your idea. 

MATH:  5th graders circle portfolios are due ASAP.  Do it for homework if you haven’t finished by the end of the day on Monday.

HISTORY:  geography of Greece; how Minoan and Mycenaean Civilizations are represented in myth; how Greek gods and goddesses reflect Greek culture. Read Chapter 25 Geography and the Settlement of Greece beginning on page 247 and ending on page 251.  (cont.)

SCIENCE: in class reading; lab if time permits.
