Read Across America Day

Wednesday, February 26, 2014

Dear Parents,

Monday, March 3rd is National Read-Across-America Day, in honor of Dr. Seuss’s birthday. We’ll be celebrating at school with a day of books and reading; all classes will participate.  Activities will include read aloud time, partner reading, independent reading, and guest readers.

The highlight of the day is the snuggle-up aspect; kids are encouraged to bring what they need to get cozy and comfy for the day. Plan to send your child with a few favorite books from home, especially ones that would be fun to share with a friend or two.  Pajamas, slippers, a blanket or sleeping bag, pillows, and a favorite stuffed animal are all optional. (We will be having P.E. that day, so running shoes are also important.)

We will be travelling to the Bolinas campus in the afternoon to read with the older students, so it’s important that all bags and stuff sacks are LABELED and EASILY CARRIED by your child.  A large (labeled!) paper bag or duffel bag is ideal.

Please note that we will dismiss from the Bolinas campus at 3:00 that day!

We look forward to our cozy reading day!

Thank you,

Rebecca, Lauren, and Cathy
